A Note for Children and Young People
This website is about exploring together, who we are! This means thinking about experiences, that might be called 'unusual' - but its more than that! There are different ways to understand who we are and our experiences of others and the world. This website brings those ideas together. There are lots of opportunities for you to be involved - Take a look!
Over the years, children have shared their experiences with me. These are experiences that can be difficult to share with other people. Here is a list of those experiences that can be quite common to children and young people:
It's really helpful to know that these experiences are really common! There are lots of different ways to understand these kinds of experiences. Through different ideas from science, cultures (different communities) and health. Some ideas are shared here. Check out our page for young people.
A Note for parents and Carers
Some of these experiences are like those used to diagnose mental health conditions. Sometimes, medical support for children and young people is necessary. But not always. As adults-in authority, we have to try not to jump to any conclusions straight away. Our research shows that children need a space to talk about their experiences. It also tells us that there may be different ways for understanding how children and young experience self, others and the world.
It can be scary to see our children in distress. But, don't forget, as human beings our negative emotions are normal and it is healthy for us to express them, acknowledge them and let them go. Its reassuring to know that many children and young people have experiences of this nature. Take a look at our page for adults.
'when you've had mental health issues you don't bring up these types of things because people in society have just such a different view on it...I did have these things (experiences)... I didn't tell anyone cause I thought not many people would understand' Young Person, International
'I didn't realise science can explain some of this stuff like why I have dreams that come true and other stuff...this website is really helpful'

Children and young people have a natural curiosity about the nature of things such as why we are here and what it all means. In our latest study, children and young people had some really interesting ideas about the nature of reality and what it means to be human.
If you would like to be involved in research complete the questionnaire and leave your contact details to be involved in more ways
We will be inviting thinkers, scientists, children and young people to add a blog about their latest research, ideas, poems and more
